The logo “You’re in good hands” rings so very true of your assistance to me in a recent accident. You may recall I sold my mom my 98 Buck LeSabre so she called to switch vehicle coverage on approximately June 8, 2009. That was a smooth easy transaction for her even at an advanced age. That’s when only a few days later the real action began…
I, unfortunately, totaled my mother’s vehicle on Sunday, July 12, 2009. Although it was an accident, you and your staff were extremely kind in making me feel I should not dwell on the accident and repeatedly said everyone was so pleased I didn’t get hurt. Of course I was devastated because I’d just sold that car to my mom and she was so pleased with it and we had just completed the paperwork with you and the motor vehicle department.
All of you, Eric, Marj, Stacy and Lori were so very gracious in understanding it was an “accident” and immediately began “fixing:” the problem I’d created, not to mention my state of mind! There are not enough words to tell each of you how you calmed my nerves! My luck changed when I found her another car at the Buck dealer – on the first visit. So, she was happy with that car and we again had to contact you to get it insured. There’s always a smile at the Nier Agency. I felt we were being a bother and you made me feel you were pleased I called!
We dealt with several employees of Allstate that week and every time we were treated as though we were most important to each of them. The adjuster, Paul Hammerschmidt was equally a blessing to mom and me. You have a wonderful system of employees, and we are so pleased we were in “Allstate’s Hands.”

Price comes with a lesson …We had our insurance through another local agency that represented several insurance companies, a brokerage I guess. The price seemed to be the best around and I had insurance with them for years prior without needing to use it.
In the 6 years we owned this home we hadn’t had a claim until the past winter with heavy snow. Ice damming caused interior water damage. We contacted our agent (new agent actually, they seemed to change occasionally) for advice and were told we should file a claim. The damage was a few thousand dollars to repair.
The insurance company sent out and independent roofing consultant to inspect the damage, but the consultant was not there to work for us as we learned. They denied our claim for any repairs to the roof or interior of our home citing roof pitch, ventilation and other problems. If these were not addressed our insurance would be canceled. It’s funny how none of this was a problem when we bought our home or insurance. Same roof, same policy.
What they didn’t know was that I had operated my own contracting company for nearly 10 years and professional roofing is part of my background. I was far more qualified than their independent roof inspection consultant. I had some strong disagreement with the report. I was dealing with numerous roof issues on old roofs and brand new ones alike. With these extreme conditions the age of the roof doesn’t matter much. Just about every roofing contractor I know was chasing the problems created by ice damming.
When we asked our agent for help they pretty much washed their hands and said we had to contact the insurance company directly, the insurance company said we had to contact our claim representative, the claim representative said I’m sorry that’s the decision the company made based on the inspection report.
The savings we had over those six years and all the years prior with that brokerage …right out the window and much more. I wouldn’t shop for price again.
Eric’s company has good competitive pricing too, but more important they have a great reputation.
